Leigh Oates Snake Spirit 2005
Acrylic & gouache on Galacia linen 745 x 1000mm $750
The spirit of the snake is kept alive by the warmth of the sun.
The painting shows the snake warming itself on the rocks.
The sun warms these rocks.
The rocks on the outer edge with the white dots around them represent the early morning dew.
These rocks are quickly dried and then warmed, this is when you will see the snake.
As a young boy my father told me if a snake is killed or dies in some way, the heart won’t stop beating until the
sun goes down.
