Fabrianne Nampitjinpa Peterson Wangunu: Bush Damper Dreaming 2007 Acrylic on linen 690 x 940mm SOLD
Fabrianne explains that her painting is about the wattle seeds that the women collect for bush tucker. The seeds
that fall from the wattle trees form a deep mat that is dug up by the women using their digging sticks. The
seeds are sorted out and cleaned up and put into their dilly bags to be taken back to camp to be ground up to
make a flour. This flour is mixed with water and a little salt and baked in the ground to make damper (bush
bread). The imagery reflects the flow of the seeds in the dilly bag.
