The ten figures shown in this painting symbolise the marriage of the five Clan Chiefs and five Maiden Punt Women. The
combination of their DNA produced a strong Yorta Yorta nation.
The figures are wearing possum skin cloaks. The Chief men wear ‘Lake Condah’ designs and the women wear ‘Maiden
Punt’ designs.
The symbols on the cloaks represent the Yorta Yorta, country and clan designs. The white dotting illustrates the DNA of the
Yorta Yorta people. The Longneck turtle in the background is the Yorta Yorta totem.
