The design for this rug is from an original acrylic on canvas painted by Inawinytji in 2001. The style of art is know as 'walka' The abstract images, eclosed within a border, are typical of this style which is unique to the Aboriginal women artists of the Pitjantjatjara/Yanunytjatjara Lands in remote, north-west South Australia.

The natural enviroment influences the images used in Walka work. Animals, flowers and land formations are commonly depicted in the artists' work.
