Mick Quilliam Fire Sticks 2008 Natural ochre & pigment on canvas 1850 x 600mm SOLD
This Painting represents the traditional fire stick farming. After the burn, the grasstree flowers flourish. When
they die and dry out, they are used to light the fires for the next season. Recent land management fires on the
East Coast have promoted the flowering of hundreds of grasstree flower spikes. The seeds from these flower spikes then fall to the ground and the next generation of grasstree can flourish.
