Etching on Hahnemuhle paper 45 x 98cm $2500
Abatuli are large baskets in which Badu women carry akul (mangrove shells), getalai (crabs) and other items. In earlier
times, during the headhunting days, badu men used these baskets to carry kuik (human skulls). The baskets have always
been woven by women, however these skills are not being passed to the younger generation as actively as they were in the
past.
