Michael said this painting tells the story of the 'lolly tree' - a favourite traditional bush food. This is a dreaming
or Creation story that belongs to his family. Michael told how the small young fruits are sweet, becoming bitter
as they matured. The lolly tree grew at Mt Singleton, known as the Wanampi tali (snake sand hill). He used to
watch the old men throw rocks at the tree, then grind the seeds up or chuck'em around to grow new trees.
Michael remembers climbing up the tree for food as a child. Mt Singleton is now a private station
