Charlene Carrington Texas Country 2003 Natural ochre & pigment on canvas 1200 x 900mm SOLD
Charlene is painting the country that her relatives and family come from - Texas Downs Station. Texas Downs
station is a place full of caves, waterholes and red hills. Charlene thinks this country is beautiful, there is plenty of
water and many rockpools, creeks and rockholes. This the land as she remembers it. Charlene often goes out
bush with her children and her grandmother, Betty Carrington and Betty's husband, Patrick Mung Mung. Charlene
has used the river red gum as the binder for this work - in a very traditional but now rarely used manner.
