Merrengung is the large curved hill at Jarnam - Police Hole Community in the Keep River National Park area.
The Keep River flows diagonally across the image. At the right of Merrengung is a camping area. Alongside the
river are three billabong areas called Marlem, Gamanggarr-ngarim (two together) and Moolerrm. Naming country
is an important aspect of relating painted images to traditional country and culture. By naming an area of country
an artist indicates his knowledge, cultural authority and ownership of country.
