Dennis Nona Dangau Pui 2006
Linocut Paper: 1400mm x 1000mm $1350
Dangau is a plant that is used to make a medicine that relieves the pain of tooth aches. It has thin elongated
leaves that are a reddish orange colour. The plant is found inland on the artist's island of Badu. The leaves are
steamed in a Bailer shell and must be left to cool in order for the medicine to be efficacious. The liquid is
swished around the area of the mouth that is causing the pain. It must not be swallowed as it is poisonous and
can cause serious illness. This is a traditional remedy that is still in use today.
