Rosie Karadada My Country, My People 2002 Acrylic on canvas 1225 x 890mm SOLD
Rosie is the sister of fellow artist Lily Karadada from Kalumburu. She has painted a wandjina holding a bush bucket
and a stone axe. Other imagery includes local people dancing with boomerangs and clapping sticks, didgeridoos,
spears, woomeras, painted shield, coolamon (the old style made of bark) and water holes. She also shows her
totemic figures - the long neck turtle and the water python. The painting is surrounded and divided by many caves.
