The painting is the artists interpretation of the how the colours of the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander flags
invokes pride, solidarity and passion in our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their communities.
The Centre is the artist’s interpretations of the united Aboriginal handshake. The handshake was used as a real
symbol by the united Aboriginal & Torres Strait Island people during the early marches for justice. The handshake
symbolised united Strength, Hope, Comradeship and Solidarity together in the struggle for justice.
The Black U shapes in the centre represents people talking together.
The red, black, yellow, green, white and blue rays on the outer circle represents colours of the Aboriginal &Torres
Strait Islander flags flying high in unison
The large outer U shapes represent a united people talking together.
The coloured figures around the painting is the artists interpretation of the Spirits of both the Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islander peoples flag spirits joined together in a united call to their people to unite in the strength of
Solidarity.
