Tali Tali Pompey Rug 2/100 2006
Hand dyed wool, chain stitched rug 1800 x 1200mm $880
Image description:

The rug design is from an original painting, done in acrylic on paper. Tali Tali’s work is very often influenced by
her country. She has recently been recognised as a significant emerging artist, and her work is in demand by
collectors and galleries.

Project:

These beautiful, unique rugs are a cross-cultural collaboration combining Aboriginal designs and traditional
Kashmiri rug-making techniques. Chain stitched, using hand dyed wool and finished with a heavy cotton backing,
each rug is a completely handmade piece. This project, although in its early stages, is already bringing noticeable
benefit to the artists and the community. Purchase of these rugs guarantees a direct return to the Aboriginal
artists, as the project is an initiative of Kaltjiti, their own art organisation.

Artist:

Tali Tali Pompey lives in the Aboriginal community of Fregon in the Anangu Pitjantjatjara/Yankunytjatjara
Lands, in the far north west of South Australia. An energetic emerging artist, her preferred medium is acrylic
paint on canvas or paper. Tali Tali paints images of "Irititja", from long ago, as well as those of "Angura" or
traditional country. Tali Tali is from the Pitjantjatjara language group.
