Alison Napurrula Multa Night Sky at Haasts Bluff 2008

In this work Alison portrays the briliant display of celestial objects visible on the clearest of nights at Haasts
Bluff.

This piece is her fourth in a recent series of intricate paintings completed during the past 2 years (including a
triptych interpretation) , and is by far her most ambitious to date. It is a variation on her grandfather's tjukurrpa
(Pira Dreaming), in which the full moon is depicted in the night sky.

In this depiction though she is presenting the night sky during the 'new moon' phase, as this period of each
month is a spectacular time in the remote desert regions of Australia. This interpretation demonstrates her skill
not only as a fine artist in her own right, but as a very contemporary female aborignal artist. This progressive
