Molly Napaltjarri Jugadai Kaarkurutinytja 2008 Acrylic on linen 1210 x 1210mm SOLD
This work describes Kaarkurutinytja (Lake MacDonald) in Western Australia and the surrounding desert
landscape. Molly paints the Tali Tali (sand hills) and the salt lake Kaarkurutinytja. This area is sacred to
Molly's mother, Narputta Nangala Jugadai as it is Naputta's father's country. Narputta left the area as a small
child during a prolonged period of drought. Narputta still paints the country as a means of keeping connections
with the sacred places and stories alive. To keep this important story alive, Narputta's eldest daughter Molly
Napaltjarri Jugadai has been given permission by her mother to continue telling this story.
