Philomena Baadjo Nangala Kulkulpa 2003
Acrylic on canvas 600 x 450mm $530
Philomena has painted some of her traditional country, which is far to the south of Balgo in the Great Sandy
Desert. The country here is known as Kulkulpa, named for the tjurnnu (soakwater) shown in the centre of the
painting. The dotted panels represent a particular type of bush seed collected here, kulparri. These small black
seeds are ground up to make damper. The squares represent the finished damper.
