Bai Bai Napangarti Mungarayi 2001
Acrylic on linen 800 x 800mm $2800
Bai Bai has painted a mungarayi story relating to country close to Yakka Yakka south of Balgo. The three
prominent designs represent wanna or digging sticks. The abundant coloured dotting shows all the seeds that are
collected for making mungarayi or damper. This seed is called kuninjul, a small brown seed which is collected when
the grass is green. Bai Bai explains that the seed is found at Nindinpa, Nundalarra and Wijaki.
