Tali Tali Pompey Talijara - Sandhills 2007
Acrylic on Belgian linen 610 x 1016mm $2300
Tali Tali draws on the traditional country for imagery in her paintings. This painting depicts the long ridges of the
sandhills with water run-off forming small ‘creeks’ known as karu karun-gka. Grass seeds collect in these dry
‘creeks’ and are gathered to make seed damper. Flowers of different colours are also found in the sandhill habitat
which is a valuable source of many food bearing grasses and shrubs.
The desert landscape is a constant source of inspiration for artists. Spectacular, ancient landforms, images from
the bush, and vibrant colours, are reflected through artwork. This unique place is the Pitjantjatjara/Yankunytjatjara
Lands in the far north of South Australia.
