Tjayangka (Antjala) Robin Walalkara-nya - At Walalkara 2007

Tjayangka lives at Walalkara homeland. It is this sandhill country that is depicted so beautifully and clearly
through her painting. Mallee Fowl tracks can be seen in between the shrubs and flowers which are its food.

Acacia bushes – yellow flowers with black seeds – are plentiful. Numerous flowers such as wakati, daisies and sturt
desert peas as well seeding grasses are typical. These provide food for the animals such as the Mallee fowl
(nganamara) and kangaroos.

The colours and images of the landscape clearly reflect Tjayangka’s extensive knowledge of the country which in
traditional time was essential to survival.

Tjayangka also works with her husband in land management monitoring wildlife such as the mallee fowl and the
rare golden moles.
