Harry Tjutjuna Kungkaka kuliningi/Thinking about women 2006
Acrylic on Belgian linen 800 x 1200mm $3100
"Kungka tjuta palatja! Nyura! You too! Kungkaku...mana! Ngayulu kungka panya mukuringkula, munu, ngayulu
rawana kuliningi." Translation: "Those there (looking at the painting) are many women! You mob! Women's
bottoms!"
Harry often paints many women (kungka tjuta), and this design depicts looking at women from behind their
bottoms! His reason for thinking about women is purely platonic - he wants to find a new companion to help take
care of him: someone as a friend, to make cups of tea and prepare food, to help when he can't see, and most of all
for company. Harry is an elderly man who has sadly lost two wives in his lifetime, and when a mans' wife passes
away, a man will look for a new woman.
